This palace is situated outside the walls of Itchan Kala, just a 5 minute walk away. The first palace building is very 'veraillish' with a lot of glitter. However, keep walking round the back and one comes upon courtyard after courtyard where the family, wives,...More

What remains of this palace is languishing in despair, decaying meter by meter as time goes by.The parts that remain intact, the courtyard, madrassa and reception hall are largely conserved because of their importance to Soviet history: the last khan was murdered here in 1918;...More

Came away very disappointed after a trip to the Nurullaboy Palace. At 50,000 entry I was expecting a lot more than a few fancy ceilings and the occasional carved wall. The place seems extensively over restored and there was still the smell of plaster and...More

The guidebooks give this very short shrift, but it's more impressive than any single sight within the city walls. This was the palace of the last emir, and it's built with a mixture of Islamic and European styles. Entrance fee is 60,000 Sum for foreigners....More

The reception palace itself if beautiful and original for a Central Asian ancient city but it would have been better if the main palace next to it ws open for the public.

The palace is of 19th century design and shows local as well as classicistic and 'jugendstil' decorations.

This is a pleasant more modern building of the 19th century and was designed as a summer place. There are opulent dinners served and spectacular folk music performances.

Nurullaboy can be recommended only for travelers who will be visiting Khiva, Itchan Kala for more than one day. The construction and decorations are quite different from the traditional decorations of Khiva.
