Very nice port

Ok it is not a large port but it is modern and clean. Boat comes in and they are very efficient. Snacks only and some vending machines for drinks.

Short trip from Ishigaki port to this port. Came with high expectations but spoilt by rain. Still worth the visit as it's very relaxing with the greenery around

If you ever in Ishigaki, don't hesitate to make day trip to nearby island of Taketomi. It's small island, but there is historical village at the middle and beautiful beach on the other side from the port. Its only 3 km from one side to another. Bring all your staff from Ishigaki as here they don't have many shops and... More

Taketomi island is just 15 min away from Ishigaki by ferry, so if you are around that area should pay Taketomi a visit. It's a really small and old-style island, you feel like in a movie. Ride on those big cows is a must!

Ishigaki is a small island lying at the extreme south west end of the Japanese archipelago within Okinawa Prefecture. It enjoys a pleasant tropical climate with magnificent beaches and clear waters making it a popular location for visitors looking to surf, kite-surf, snorkel and scuba dive. Much of Ishigaki itself and the surrounding territory is protected as part of the... More

It is just aferry terminal and do not expect to make any bargain from the ferry shop. Best is to get stuff from Iriomote shops if you happen to travel there. The ferry is within walking distance to the main 'center' i.e a good 20 mins walk. If you d rather pay then there is a flat ride fee of... More

This is an easy and cheap ferry trip from Ishigaki’s main town. When you arrive, if you don’t have a pre-booked tour, like us, as which shuttle vans go to the place with the buffalo carts. You get a free shuttle to and from the ferry port. Come here to take a scenic cart ride pulled by a water buffalo... More

If you go to Ishigaki or Kohamajima make sure you visit Taketomi Island, it is a little jewel, take a water buffalo tour, this doesn't last for very long but it's comical and informative, after that hire a cycle and just explore, one tip though make sure you have plenty of water if visiting during summer. I absolutely loved my... More

Taketomi island is a very small but an amazing island. It's a must to visit if you go to Ishigaki island. Get a rental bicycle for a day when you get to the port. Or, if you stay in a local B&B in Taketomi island, they often have rental bicycles with special rates after you check in. The island is... More
