Guess it's our own fault...didn't research this first. Drove forever it seemed. Ranger tells it will cost $9.00 to enter. Then he tells us that the Lighthouse is a 1 1/2 - 2 mile walk. He said you cannot see it from a distance. It is cold and drizzling. We are disappointed and we leave. So be prepared...

1.8 miles out and back on a flat well packed trail. Walking, bikes, and wagons all work fine. This is easy hiking with benches and educational signs along the way. There are bathrooms at both ends, and dogs are allowed on the path, but once at the lighthouse they ask that you keep them off the beach and out of... More

Be prepared for a TWO mile walk (and remember that's two miles BACK!!!) to see this lighthouse. If you are in decent shape,it's certainly worth the walk. They have volunteers in the summer months who will give guided tours and answer your questions. The view from the top is absolutely breathtaking. Ludington offers free bus rides to the lighthouse once... More

If you're in the area, this is a must see. It's a historic light (1867) that continues to operate. The hike here is worth it. The stories told on the info kiosks are interesting and worth reading. It's a part of our history, our state, our culture. Great place got all ages.

It is an almost 2 mile walk there & back but it is very much worth the walk..the birds were chirping and there are things along the way that tell you about ship wrecks & the dunes. The path is easy to walk on or ride bikes. You park in a nice parking lot & walk thru the camp ground... More

Nice hike out there. With a lot of kids it might be much. We only have one. It's definitely worth it though!

The lighthouse is nicely placed for photos of it in front of Lake Michigan. There is easy parking and a nice walk too.

The beautiful lighthouse is breathtaking even more beautiful than pictured. The walk to the lighthouse is not for the faint-hearted, but oh so worth the walk. The shoreline, the park around the area on the way to the lighthouse it quiet, beautiful and very calming. Once you get to the lighthouse you will enjoy a very quaint and inviting place,... More

A long walk from the campground, enjoyed walking up to the top of the lighthouse. Cost 5 per person to go to the top.

We walked the one and a half mile trek to the lighthouse, paid for the walk up to the top ($5/person). Saw a short film before the climb. 150 feet on spiral stairs is not for the faint of heart. It was a very windy day so a quick walk outside for the view and pictures and then a cramped... More
