I wouldn't necessarily call this much of a tourist area. Sometimes its interesting when there are a bunch of fish stacked up trying to make the climb but most of the time its not too interesting.

The fish ladder is a common romantic spot during the days. To just stand and watch the river flow and the fish come up the ladder. This is a must see for couples and families alike.

Nice park - with current remodeling/construction. Limited parking but ample room to walk about and take in the sites. Handicapped accessible. Great location for family picnics, too.

Walked down here on election Tuesday. Great to see the fish (they were huge) jumping up the fish ladder to head upstream to spawn. Also saw a bunch of people fishing and managing to frequently 'hook up', unfortunately I think they were not too experienced...More

I'm not aware of too many fish ladder viewing places outside the Pacific northwest. This is a true ladder with lots of fish moving upriver. It has an underground viewing window where you can see the water swirling as the fish negotiate the ladder. Outside...More

Great place to walk along the river. Kids loved watching the fishermen and the fish jump up the ladder. Took a quick walk to Atwater Brewery. Great hot dogs and beer. Reasonable lunch prices!

Visited here mid morning on a Saturday. Several guys fishing. I was amazed how they waded out into the middle of the river to fish. Not much to do unless you are fishing but nice place for a Saturday morning walk.

Interesting display of how the salmon swim to spawn. Many brave fisherman out in the very swift currents. Very pretty.

I frequently travel through the Grand Rapids area for work and it was very interesting to stop and watch folks wading & fly fishing right on the river in a downtown area. The park is a little dated, but I was more concerned about the...More

I have been there at all different times of the year. There seems to be fish in the area almost all of the time. Hope that helps.
