The locks at Bergs are part of the engineering marvel called Gota Kanal which allows small ships to traverse across Sweden in a 190 km (about 118 miles) long waterway. The original driving force was to avoid Danish tolls when passing through Oresund. The massive works involved a conscripted army of 58,000 soldiers who dug the canal mainly by hand.... More

This place are near Berg city , in Google Maps Bergs Slussar. We have a luck when we came to Berg Slussar , and can to see two ships that passage through gateways. This gateways are automatic and have 3 levels. We was here one hour.

Stopped on our way from Linköping to Göteborg and ended up spending an hour or so watching the Wasa Lejon traverse the locks. Fascinating to watch the process. Lots of great photo ops. Don't think it would have been nearly as interesting if there wasn't a boat going through, but still a nice location and several displays. Easy parking.

Very nice and cosy area. We accidentally stumbled on some event, so quite a lot of people unfortunately. But well worth a visit anyway.

Seven locks one by the other! This is SO UNIQUE! We went to see this by our car after going by the canal boats. It is so beautiful, so I just wish I could make a photo of this. I cannot.

This is a place I can recommend to visit. Spend some time and see boats of different sizes go up or down using the "sluss". It's interesting for children of all ages. Take time and have a lunch or dinner. I can personally recommend the ice cream at "Jenny's".

Bergs slussar is a good place to enjoy the canal going through Sweden. In Berg you have the largest number of locks in one place. Best enjoyed during the summer nut makes for good photo opportunities year around.

Best visit during summer when boats are moving up and down in the locks. Possible to take a swim, have ice-cream or a coffee as well.

For those who like locks and canals this is the perfect place. Also the swedes seem to love it as a place to sunbathe. Nice place for a walk and an icecream.
