Just under 6 miles to the lake and back from the Dune climb parking lot. I recommend leaving the shoes in the car. A lot easier than filling them with sand in the first 10 steps. I didn't encounter any obstacles that hurt my feet....More

Would recommend this train for those physically fit. Start early so you can take breaks without feeling rushed. Also bring/wear your bathing suit as you will want to take a dip once you get to lake Michigan. There are no refil stations so bring enough...More

Early morning is the time to hit the Dunes and boy is it worth it! You hike over 100 up 1.5 to the top to have amazing views of Lake Michigan! Additional trails take you thru amazing pine trees and shrubs

Great hike although really strenuous even for experienced hikers. Best barefoot and with swimwear since swimming is great after the first half of the hike!

We didn't make the full trip to the other side, but we did get high enough to see water all around us! Trekking sand is not an easy task and we did this with a 7 year old and 2 senior citizens. We all took...More

I enjoyed walking the Sleeping Bear Dunes hiking trail with my son. So many neat things to see along the way! We enjoyed running down some of the sand hills and breathtaking views.
