Beautiful drive with several scenic viewpoints and side trails for hiking

The Cottonwood trail with great views starts from a parking lot along the drive. The popular Dune Climb is also nearby.

Be sure to receive one of the newsletters for the sleeping bear national Lakeshore Park, as it will point out several stops along the way, in fact 12 of them and whether you stop or not it gives information on those numbered areas. Do Be sure to stop at the lookout over Lake Michigan, which is breathtaking and you will... More

Plan several hours to stop along this one-way scenic drive. We traveled in early May, before the tree canopy was in full bloom- allowing for viewing wonderful vistas. Places to stop and break out a picnic- quiet. We met interesting folks wandering about exploring the area. Great map and narrative provided at visitor center in Empire. I bet views are... More

What a wonderful scenic drive, with great vistas of Lake Michigan. It is a slow drive with many places to stop and walk.

We took our two cars thru this drive after climbing the dunes at Sleeping Bear! If you have come this far, you cannot miss out on these spectacular views! There are several places to pull over and park to walk to an overlook and sense the full beauty of Mother Nature! For the weak kneed of us who shudder at... More

We did the scenic drive on the way to Sleeping Bear sand dunes on a rainy day in April. The stretch has a good tree canopy for most of the part and I'm sure it would look much better during fall. There are a few vista points to stop and enjoy the colors of Lake Michigan and the sand dunes... More

Shared this special place with friends who were first time visitors. Hiked the Cottonwood trail (just lovely) and found a Black Morel Mushroom growing in the side of a dune! Lake Michigan overlook: beautiful, breathtaking.

This is south of the sleeping bear sand dunes. Nice drive to the dunes. The highlight is the 450 foot overlook of sand. If you want to climb down to lake michigan. Remember, its 450 foot back up. A great drive. It does cost. This is a national park.

This is absolutely my favorite place to visit in Michigan! Take the time and drive the trail, be sure to pull off and stop when you can. The views are phenomenal. The waters of Lake Michigan will take your breath away, the waters look like the Caribbean.

Best national park, best beach in the world with fresh water. GO down the dune carefully and have a family member drive to north bar lake at the base of the dune head south down the beach and meet your family for a great picnic and swim in Lake Michigan and north bar lake best family outing for all ages
