As adults we could have spent all day. My 8-year old? Not so much. We will be back (with a babysitter).

We are artists and fans of museum excursions, so our delight in finally getting to the DIA was magnified by their collections, the atmospheric rooms, happy other museum goers, and great food in an atrium setting. It held everything we hope for in a stimulating afternoon experience. We can't wait to return! On permanent display are the Diego Rivera murals... More

As an art enthusiast I have been to countless museums and galleries all over the world, and I must say that the collection of the Detroit Institute of Arts is quite impressive. Sure, the phenomenal "Detroit Industry" murals by Diego Rivera are a must-see, but don't miss out on some other outstanding pieces: from Artemisia Gentileschi's "Judith and her Maidservant... More

The DIA is a marvelous way to spend a day wandering through the museum galleries. It has something for everyone. Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the courtyard after you have wandered through the paintings, sculptures, artifacts, and other attractions. This is a world-class museum.

Beautiful collections of Native American, American Art, Renaissance, Italian religious, etc. Something inspiring about seeing beautiful paintings and artifacts from the 1300's up in the case of the Italian collection and pre-historic art as well. I've been to many art museums, and this one definitely deserves its place in the Top 10 rankings of the US! I will say--some of... More

Very nice museum. Plenty to see from paintings to sculptures, artifacts and armor. Was able to spend hours here to see everything which makes up for the out of county admission fee. Have been a few times, they always have something new going on. Went for the Day of the Dead display in November, and was there for the coffee,... More

I have visited the DIA for years and I always love my time spent here. I especially enjoy the third and second floors. A friendly staff member recommended that we begin on the third floor and work our way down, and I much preferred this as I usually begin on the first floor. It was a better way to enjoy... More
