I put the DIA on the same level as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and not far behind the Uffizi and the National Gallery . . . just sublime. I'm particularly in love with the medieval and Renaissance collections, the African American art collection and of course the Rivera murals. This museum will blow your mind.

There are exhibitions in this museum that you would wait in line for anywhere else. Here you can just stand back and admire for as long as you want. Top-quality impressionism including van Gogh followed by the awesome Diego Rivera murals. There is a very nice "courtyard" with sofas, food and wine with an atrium ceiling which is a wonderful... DIA has always been one of my favorite places to go to be inspired. We like to go for the special exhibits, but this time we spent an hour with the famous Diego Rivera mural, then went to a photography exhibit. Lunch in the Kresge atrium is special and reasonabke, but there is also a regular lunch room that may... More

Every time we visit Detroit, I put the DIA on my "to do" list. I love everything about the DIA...the staff is friendly and helpful, the venue is beautiful, and I can spend hours looking at the Diego Rivera mural. And I always have to hit up the gift shop for great presents to take home.

Absolutely LOVE the Native American exhibit on the first floor. Exhibit on Greek and Italian culture on second floor is also amazing. If you have a college student ID bring it for a discount on entry.

If you are in Detroit ... The DIA, as it is known, is a must visit stop. The gallery holds treasures from multiple genres & periods from old masters to modern. It also has great traveling exhibits from time to time as well. You can see a quarter million dollar frame on a Rembrandt or large murals by Diego Rivera... More

My family and I love it here! There is a dinner table on the third floor that shows how a 1800 French dinner is set out and food from the time with the dishes in the cases around it. The restaurant downstairs has the best food you would think it was a very fancy place. They have free days, kids... More
