We had read a little about the fort, but had no idea there would be so many buildings and so many informational set ups. The history was very interesting. The fort portion of the park was well maintained. Nice scenery on Lk Fanny Hooe. Would recommend visiting if you are in the Copper Harbor area.

Fort Wilkins was built in Copper Harbor in the mid 19th century as a base to police the mining boom. It never saw any real action as such and fell into disrepair but has been restored as a fort museum. I thoroughly enjoyed going through each area of the fort and seeing the artifacts. It takes about two hours to... More

We loved Fort Wilkins State Park. The fort itself was superb with some of the best interpretation and exhibits for this type of historical exhibit we've ever seen.

A breathtaking site and makes you realize the beauty of nature and why the Indians wanted to preserve the land.. We should all appreciate and endeavor to maintain what we have for the future ..

Campground was good; nice and clean showers/restroom. Fort was very educational. The playground i the common area was great for the kids.

The fort was well laid out and easy to see. They had many exhibits to explain conditions during the time the fort was in use. At the end of Sept it was pretty quiet which added to our enjoyment. There was plenty to look at and it took about 1 1/2 hours to casually go through.

The fort was well preserved and was set up like a museum with exhibits. They had people dressed and doing demonstrations of carving. The view of the lake where the fort is is definitely nice as well. The park was extremely well maintained and a good way to spend an afternoon.

It was almost closing time but the ranger let us on anyway. We had only about 45 minutes, went through quickly and it still was amazingly impressive! They have preserved a time in history that is fascinating! There were some wonderful stories to go along with all the displays! It is a not to be missed site.
