This charming, historic general store is more than a local attraction, but rather a source of unsurpassed flavor extracts for cooking and baking made by the proprietors. Especially famous for their Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla extract, they offer a range of syrups, flavorings and candies. Their location in the heart of West Stockbridge is a plus.

We had a ball looking at everything jammed in this store. We purchased some vanilla, as well as a few other items. You will find things here that you will not find anywhere else. Had fun talking to the ladies working there, and they even threw in some free gift bags and another item once they heard our story. A... More

Eclectic country store - a lot of stuff in a small space. Old time candy, bulk spices, and an 'adult' gag gift section reminiscent of a Spencers gift store at the mall. Kids toys & puzzles, tourist kitcsh.

I've been ordering their 1 pint bottle of Vanilla for about 7-8 years now. My wife is the cook at our River Edge Mansion Bed and Breakfast and she always uses Charles H. Baldwin & Sons vanilla. Great stuff.

There are not many places like this left... The corny gifts, the pretty scarves, the goofy cards and penny candy (plus a 1-cent gumball machine) abound. The proprietor is wry and obviously enjoys his shop and his customers. In addition to the signature vanilla, there are countless other flavorings and spices to be seen, sniffed, enjoyed and purchased. What fun!

When you enter this store the aroma of house made vanilla extract takes you back to Mom's kitchen. Penny candy, rubber band airplane kits, greeting cards, soaps and toys make for a browser's dream. The collectables up on the top shelves are a nostalgia trip in itself. Pleasant shopkeeper/owners are full of local information. A wide variety of spices, extracts... More
