A great place to live and play

Lived here most of my life and have always returned. The river is beyond incredible with fantastic fishing, boating and swimming. Bird watching too. Eagles to egrets.

I moved to the village of Turners Falls -- the north end of the Town of Montague -- after living for 60 years in metro areas of 500,000 or more. It sounds like a cliche to say "this place is human-sized" but it fits: there are buildings that were NOT torn down but refurbished -- there is history without freezing-in-place,... More

It's called Turners Falls. With the Connecticut River, the Montague Plains, the bike path, Food City- a very decent grocery store, Unity Park, the community gardens and the lovely quaint downtown, I love it here. I prefer outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, gardening, exploring and walking in the woods. The MCSM Women's Center has wonderful programs as does the... More

Great restaurants, sports shops, antiquing, upscale up cycled goods, nature museum and trails, great children's playground with town run water feature, fish ladder, near highways of Route 2 and 91. Worth the visit.

I lived in Turners Falls from age 6-19, and still visit frequently as I have family there. It's interesting to see how during the last 15 years people have really tried to make Turners into something hip and happening. Now, I love this town. I have very fond memories of this town, but it's nothing special for a tourist point... More

Turners Falls is a remarkably vibrant community that has transitioned from dying mill town to eclectic haven for food, entertainment, and the arts. It's not pretentious or pristine, but it is authentic and beautiful. There are more quaint places in Franklin County, but most of them are far less interesting!

On the Conn River, this little town is great for a nice Tavern meal at Hubie's, theater performance at The Shay Theater, excellent presentation of the Conn River at the Discovery Center, gorgeous Mass at The Polish Church(Our Lady of Czestahova or the other many churches built in the 1800's. Foliage season is especially beautiful...just 10 mins east of I-91... More

When you visit new places you sometimes are predisposed to what you'll see and feel. I think you will be surprised many times over when you see Turners Falls. I recommend you start at the Discovery Center by the power canal, visit the bike path, and walk down Avenue A. The shops on both sides will have something for everyone... More

15 years ago, I would never advise anyone to visit this town. Most of the stores were boarded up, the houses off of the main drag were shabby, and drugs and crime were rampant. Things have settled down and progress has arrived to an extent. The great Falls Discovery Museum hints at part of it. The Shea Theater, The Rendezvous... More

Four seasons, beautiful views, bicycle trails, locally owned businesses and close to the ground food. What more could you ask for!
