Guided tours are available on the hour at peak season, and as you wait there are shaded tables with beverages available and extraordinary gardens to explore. The house is a museum with excellent guides. This Guilded Age “cottage” is unique in that it was a...More

Our first visit here was a real eye opener. This house feels "lived in" and not like the mansions in Newport. The gardens have unexpected twists and surprises and are well loved and maintained. The guide in the house was informative, but not boring, and...More

We enjoyed our visit except for the fact that two rooms of the tour had sheets covering the furniture and china display in the library and parlor. We were told it was part of the Halloween haunting event Friday and Saturday evenings. We visited Sunday...More

We enjoyed our guided tour of the home and gardens at Naumkeag. Had to wait 45 minutes for the house tour. So, we roamed the grounds and read the various signs and brochure. Our guide was knowledgeable and offered to answer any questions as we...More

Wonderful tours of a mansion and gardens all beautifully restored. Very special home with original furnishings. Don't miss it and allow time for the gardens

Be mindful of your timing. Even if they are not busy, they will not take a small group on a tour unless you are there for the half past the hour tour. We asked if it was possible to simply start our tour early, and...More

This one really surprised me. I thought we were just looking for something to do, but I was blown away with this house and the grounds. Just gorgeous! Many mansions from this era are impressive, yet unliveable. This one is totally cozy and liveable. An...More

Beautiful yet understated old home. We came to walk the gardens but ended up touring the house as well and glad we did. You do get a sense of experiencing the home much like the Choates did.

Loved this house. The grounds are just stunning, and the house is just Gilded Age perfection. The views are outstanding! The docent clearly loved talking about the house, and it was a very interesting tour. Grounds were a bit buggy, but they had spray. Do...More

Interesting question because these old houses from the nineteenth century involve old technology for cooking. It happens that the kitchen was removed to be part of the basement visitors center. The only part left is a... More

Hello, there was a kitchen (as part of the guided tour) but it was very small within the house and obviously did not offer any edibles or food. They do have a small area within the visitor center (which you enter once you... More
