AWESOME DAY AT SEA!!! Went mid-may on a Saturday - still kinda chilly, bundled up and had a blast. The boat was almost empty, about 20 people - which was great because we sprawled out on the benches and got a booth in the galley. Recommend taking the Dramamine they offer - 2 kids and the wife got seasick about... More

This was the highlight of the trip. The ship includes an inside area that sells food and drinks, and plenty of outside seating. The tour guide is knowledgeable about the area and the whales, keeping the commentary interesting. It takes several hours, but being out on the ocean and seeing the sites from the coastline to the ships to the... More

We had taken a similar tour in Provincetown Cape Cod and wanted to go out to see the whales again from Plymouth. When we approached the service desk to buy a ticket a young lady with blonde hair was behind the counter staring down behind the desk at an electronic device on her lap. We stood at the window waiting... More

We set sail on Tails of the Sea in search of whales. We found them in abundance and were able to enjoy the sight of whales for an extended period of time on an October afternoon. This was a remarkable and exciting experience I will remember all of my life. I couldn't have been happier to be on this excursion.... More

An absolutely breathtaking experience, we went on the 27.09.16 with excellent weather conditions. With the boat not being to full capacity it was easy to move around and with two Marine scientist on board this enhanced the trip even more. During our trip we were fortunate enough to see two Sunfish (Mula Mula) a Fin Whale and Minke Whales, On... More

This was a near end of season tour so the boat was only about 10% full. This made moving around the boat very easy, so everyone had the opportunity to obtain an excellent view when the whales appeared. Spotting them is guaranteed otherwise you get your money back. Well, we saw upwards of 20 and most at close range. Excellent... More

Great Whalwatchinig Tour to the stellwagen bank area. We´ve been out there in the first week of October. By sunshine and Blue Sky, we get same gorgeous fotos/film from humpback whales and minke whales. Especially the humpbacks showed off and we could observe their different feeding techniques. The boats was very nice and the crew gave very good presentations. As... More

I booked this tour for something to do while visiting Plymouth. I had read that Captain John's whale watching tours has been in business for several decades. Everything about this tour was fantastic; the day was warm and sunny, the boat was only half full and the humpback whales were out in full force. No matter where you sat in... More

This was our 4th trip with Capt. John and it was the best yet! We went on Sunday, 9/19 @ noon. We saw 25-30 whales. There isn't a picture or description that can tell you how amazing seeing these whales is. It was a bumpy ride and the crew offered free sea sick pills and offered any help needed. They... More

We went our on Sept 21 and the boat was only about half full so everyone was able to watch for whales. We saw about 3 dozen humpbacks who were feeding. One whale also jumped out of the water completely. The naturalist on board said that she had not seen this many whales at one time. Highly recommend Capt. John's.
