We can't come to the island without a stop to the flying horses. The brass rings really make it. Be sure to check their hours in the off season before going.

During a recent visit to Martha's Vineyard, my husband and I stopped by to see this very old and historical carousel. It appears to be in good shape and is still thrilling the little ones with it's horses, music and spinning motion!

This is the oldest continuing operating carousel in the United States. Local kids grow up being allowed to go , by their parents, only on rainy days. Reach for the golden ring, and win a free ride.

As an adult it was fun to ride the oldest carousel in America and try to catch the ring. A fun place for kids of all ages.

Transported from Coney Island Brooklyn in 1884, this is America's oldest platform carousel. Near the shore, a few blocks from the gingerbread houses.

Had a great time riding the carousel horses. Great piece of history. Didn't get a brass ring for a free ride, but definitely a good experience.
