Very low key operation. Show up and get your canoe or kayak. From this location you can only go south because of a dam in place as you head toward Boston but this is fine because there is much less "traffic" on the river in Newton, Needham and West Roxbury. if you go into West Roxbury under the bridge past... The Charles River Canone and Kayak is located next to the Marriott Hotel which is on Comm Ave in Newton. It has been there for at least 40 years. From their base you can choose a canoe or a kayak and go either up or down the river. If you are staying at the Marriott or visiting Brandeis University, this... More

Really enjoyed the time on the river, such a wonderful way to see the wildlife & appreciate all that nature has to offer. I have never before been kayaking but it was great fun & easy to find a rhythm. My one criticism would be of the system or lack thereof when checking in & paying. No one ever enquired... More

Canoeing and kayaking on the Charles River in the summer and fall is a pleasurable experience. Waiting 15 to 20 minutes to pay the fee is not. There was only one person signing out and reclaiming the boats. There must be a better way to manage the flow of customers. Do that and a very good experience will become a... More

This is an easy, fun way to see another side of the Charles. There is quite a lot of wildlife and many beautiful vistas if you take the time to slow down and take a canoe trip along the Charles. Surprisingly close to a such a large city it is quiet and serene.

A great plan to let your child feel connected with nature. The river was warm and the breeze was embracing us. The sun was light live. we rented 4 kayaks; one, double; two singles and; one, for child. The whole bill for almost 1 hour and half was 52 dollars. They had 25% off today. Great adventure and excellent service.

Beautiful walk along the Charles right into Cambridge - watch for the geese: their droppings are everywhere! Kayaker love that spot.

This is a lot of fun, whether you're in shape or not. (the better shape you're in the further you can explore). You can explore the coves, and turns of the river, hidden ways behind overgrown sandbars,.secret islands. Echoes under the bridge. single kayaks, doubles, family size, stand up boards, paddle wheels (more tiring than it's worth). The only negative... More
