Easy to access the summit road from behind the City Clerk's office building across the bridge (turn immediately right). Winding road with various look-outs. Easy driving to the summit, which has a shop and open viewing areas across the valleys. This is the highest point...More

Mount Greylock offers beautiful views of the surrounding area, it's easily accessible and also has a very cute Bascom Lodge where you cab get a bite to eat. The War Memorial there is a very impressive and imposing structure -- I'd never heard of it...More

Fabulous vistas at this war memorial site, for hikers reaching the summit or school kids on a road trip. There is an inn up there, too, serving meals and with rooms to stay, $40 in the dorm or $125 for a private room. Thus panoramic...More

It was a beautiful drive up the mountain. As we got closer to the top there were low clouds. So the view from the veterans memorial was white:( no fall foliage. It was all good though, the drives up and down were awesome!

The view was great, and it was a peak leaf season weekday, but this year's colors just aren't that spectacular. Perhaps it's the lack of rain? Anyway, it was still a great view. We drove part way up and then hiked the rest. The hiking...More

Mount Greylock is the highest natural point in Massachusetts, and definitely Worth a visit if you are spending time in the Berkshires. The views are spectacular, especially on a clear day in the fall. I believe you can see as far as 90 miles on...More

Nice well-run park. We had a picnic on the summit (we drove). The road to the top is well maintained with just a few scary hairpin turns (they warn you). The memorial tower is open during the warm season and there is an observation deck...More

We spent a good part of the day walking some trails leading up to Mt Greylock, which was beautiful. We had an absolutely gorgeous day but when it got to the summit, there wasn't a single spot to park in and the police was redirecting...More

State park rangers at the visitor center give an excellent introduction to the site, and good advice. In our case, we wanted a short hike. The ranger advised us to park at the Gould Trail head, from where you can hike the last couple of...More

Cheshire Reservoir and Onata & Pontoosuc lakes are all right in the area, at the base of the mountain. I'm not sure if any offer kayaks to rent, but your hotel or lodge may know. The area is beautiful!

Cloud level can be low enough to obscure the tower, as it was during our visit recently. We could see it, but as if through thick fog. The road to the summit may be closed in winter due to snow. Also, FYI: On our recent... More
