South Beach is a beautifu, unspoiled spot to sit or walk in the soft sand, but swimming seemed rather impossible when we were there due to the steep drop off and strong surf. It was a short and pleasant bike ride there from Edgartown. The...More

Great beach for watching the waves and listening to the roar of the ocean. We went for a beach walk on a cloudy day recently and loved watching the giant waves crash on the shore. This isn't a good beach for little kids to frolic...More

The beach was serene, uncrowded and very easy to park free along the road or parking lot. We saw large rolling waves and beautiful shore birds . No lifeguards until summer season . Perfect beach with large waves.

Can't believe there are no bathrooms or portapottys anywhere near here. Very boring beach area as there is Nothing near you for miles!

I've been to islands that weren't as nice. I wish I lived closer! So beautiful and full of natural sights. Can't say much more, you just have to go!

Tranquil off season beach stop off. Great place for sunset pictures. Location ideal for kite flying.

This is a beautiful long stretch of beach with great sunsets. South Beach has high sand dunes with soft sand and breathtaking sunsets.

Beautiful beach that is across the entire southern side of the island. Ocean waves and pretty sunsets. It can be dangerous with an undertow.

Yes, you have to get a permit to drive a vehicle on the beach. No fee to sun bathe.

There are a few showers at one end of the beach - not private ones. You'd want to keep your swinsuit on!
