We live five minutes from Conowingo Dam specifically for eagle photography! My husband is a wildlife photographer that specializes in bird photography. There is no better place in the lower 48 states to photograph eagles on a regular basis than Conowingo Dam. COST: FREE PARKING:...More

The Conowingo dam has a small and informative visitor center. The docent was very cheerful and helpful, and had a lot of information to offer, about local hikes, birdwatching, the history of the dam. There is a film that explains about the building of the...More

An enjoyable stop after crossing the Susquehanna River from Cecil County into Harford County, MD. Driving down a small country road to the base of the dam is a different experience from driving on the main highway. At the base of this road at nearly...More

It was our third or forth trip to the Conowingo Dam and this powerful large hydroelectric dam in the Lower Susquehanna River always looks impressive to me. I really like every opportunity to actually drive over the dam. Almost always you see birdwatchers in the...More

Driving over the Conowingo Dam crosses not only a magnificent force of nature, but the force of humanity which wrestles with it. The goal...man and nature to perhaps understand each other. You see massive technology and broad natural beauty both brought to a standstill. Yet...More

This was a spur of the moment stop on a Sunday afternoon drive. We specifically went to see the dam but wound up catching sight of several eagles while we were there. A nice, economic, no frills stop.

We have been here many many times, it is getting so popular now but we love photographing the eagles fishing and in the towers around the dam. Nice path for walking along the river also. Different times of the year the eagles are everywhere, be...More

We were here on Jan 21. We pulled into the parking lot and there were a lot of people there with large cameras and binoculars. There was an eagle directly overhead. As we walked to the fence along the water, we could see lots of...More

We went on December 23, 2016 and only saw 1 eagle as we walked up, flying overhead with a fish. Then, nothing for the next hour except that same eagle perched on top of a tree and not moving. No "hundreds of eagles" as someone...More

Yes, people were fishing when we were there - and catching. Men were walking off with more than one fish to take to their cars. Believe it is all ramps too to get down there to fish.

We were there less than 10 days ago and there were lots of eagles to see. You could call the Conowingo Visitor Center at 410-457-5011 for hotel and other area information. They are very helpful.
