Wow! Because of the ferry schedule it made sense to stay all day, hence the decision to rent bikes. Were told that helmets were optional. We should have been told how rough the terrain was. I was actually scared when I was riding downhill, really wishing I had a helmet on! Would I do it again? No! Am I glad... More

The boat to Isle au Haut is a part of our annual summer trek to Stonington. This year we were pleasantly surprised to board the Otter, a new boat, holding 60 passengers. It has a cabin for staying out of the wind, seats in the open on the back, and a roof deck that has chairs for about 16 (?).... More

After reading all of Linda Greenlaw's books, visiting Isle au Haut was on my Bucket List. We arrived 15 minutes before the 10:00 boat and were fortunate to get the last two tickets. They do not take reservations. It was a beautiful day and the ride out was scenic. We did not go to hike, however we walked a lot!... More

5 of us rented bikes and took ferry to the islsnd. Bikes were not in great condition and we were not warned about conditions on island. Very rigorous path. 1/2 is unpaved. Lots of rocks. Should have taken helmets. But the ferry ride was beautiful and a great experience overall. For experienced riders and people in good shape.

Did a short hike, visited the post office, general store,& gift shoppe. Was just the right time for us taking the 10 am trip out with the 12 noon return . the price was... More

After buying sandwiches and other provision in Stonington, we took the 1000 boat out to beautiful Isle au Haut, arriving at the Duck Harbor stop at 1115 in the Acadia National Park portion of the island. We enjoyed about four hours and 6.5 miles of splendid hiking (including the rigorous Duck Mountain trail and the easier coastal return - all... More

Such a great boat ride to see Deer Isle, Isle of Haut and other islands from the water. The captain gives great commentary on the sea life, birdlife and the places you are able to see. Such fun!

We took a boat ride out to Idle au Haut today. What a nice, fun and interesting boat ride. We saw spectacular scenery including lighthouses, seals, guillemots, eider ducks, and etc. Everyone at Isle au Haut Boat Services was great and super friendly, especially Captain Garrett. The boat is a nice size and offers plenty of seating and shelter from... More
