The views of Echo Lake and its beach are stunning from the cliffs. You can also see Somes Sound and beyond from here. We took some of our best pictures in Acadia from this trail. It is not a long hike, but does climb in elevation. Take your time and enjoy the scenery. It is very doable for most people.

A bit outside of the more heavily used hikes in Acadia - this short hike (about 45 minutes) takes you to some beautiful views and a nice flat rock summit perfect for a picnic break. There are other options for other trails that could make the hike longer as well.

Our hosts suggested a trail starting at Long Pond to head up to Beech Mountain and the Fire Tower with glorious 360 views. We met very few people on this path and IMHO was a better option than starting at the Car Park closest to the summit. The car park we used was at the southern tip of Long Pond... More

The trail was well marked with natural signage. Quiet cool stroll through the trees. Neat stone steps to aid the climb to the top. ON top the view was great, able too see alot, 1st timers , not sure what all the islands/ mountains were, BUT CLEAR AS A BELL. The walk down was a little tricky, but we wrre... More

My husband and I headed out for a moderate hike with great views, the Beech Cliff Loop was just right. One side of the loop is shorter and steeper and the other is longer and more of a slope, so you have your choice depending on what you feel like doing. We took the steep path up and the sloping... Beautiful.. Watch a sunset there, just stunning. This is on the easy side of moderate. Short, sweet, beautiful vista. Appears to be undergoing renovation.

This hike, although steep, is awesome. I did this hike with 2 adults and 3 kids and we managed to do this in 1.5 hours. We went up the Beech Cliff trail (0.5 miles) and then we went down the Canadian trail (1.3 miles), coming to a total of an easy 1.8 miles. The Beech Cliff trail consisted of rock... More

The old Beech Cliff loop was easier, but the diabolical rangers closed the old trail and make you go down Canada Cliffs which are boring and more difficult. If you want to make it the more authentic loop, take the Valley Trail south from the parking lot, continue towards Canada Cliffs, take the relatively new trail down the hill to... More

Fantastic hike on the quiet side with wonderful views. My 75-year-old mother, my 10-year-old son and I all enjoyed the hike to the summit and fire tower.
