Went here while staying in Bar Harbor. The collection of antique cars is wonderful, but the history of the auto on Mount Desert Island was fantastic. Displays are as informative as the cars. The curator was very helpful. This was a great side trip and...More

The museum is set up to show how many Mt. Desert (pronouonce dessert!) old money summer visitors did not want automobiles but many of the working locals did want them allowed. Many unusual cars.

Tucked away on the far side of Mount Desert Island, you don't expect to find such an impressive motor museum. Focussed on the Brass Era of veteran cars, it is beautifully laid out and explained. Don't miss it!

OK - let's not raise expectations too high. This is a relatively modest car museum in the woods on Mt Desert Island. But it is so unexpected as to be completely worth the visit. Plus the collection is impressive for its type - which is...More
