Two parts of awesomeness! You get 2.5-3 hrs of awesome views of all the islands along w narration from the capt. you also get some insight into island life... washers, fridges, lumber, groceries... it all goes by boat and you get to watch it go on and off! The efficiency of each stop is amazing...and gives some local insight. We... More

Previously we took the mailboat around the Casco Cay islands, but this time we just went to Peaks and got off for a few hours. It was marginal weather and the summer crowd had gone home, so it was interesting to see, meet and listen to the locals (about 800 of them year round). Fun outing for a couple of... More

On a picture-perfect fall day, the ferry is the way to go. Beautiful scenery of the islands as the boat putters along. It's the best way to get close-up views of sailing and lobster boats in the bay, and views of the more private parts of the islands. The only downside is dealing with less-than-helpful staff who make you play... More

We went in August, so it was a bit chilly.. If you go around this time, don't forget a sweater because it does get windy. The overall ride was nice and I enjoyed every view. We took some wonderful pictures every chance we got. The staff was very friendly as well. Totally recommend it.

I booked what was listed as the "Sunset Cruise" but was disappointed to discover that the trip was really just a commuter boat that happened to depart near the sunset hour. For the price of the ticket we were handed a map of points of interest but the captain never made any announcements about what we were passing when which... More

Delightful 3 hour cruise round the Casco Bay islands. A working boat delivering mail and supplies at each stop. Hading back to Portland got quite choppy with spray up front, but lower level was dry. Excellent commentary en route

I took the mailboat ferry and highly recommend it. There is no food served but you can bring your own. A couple ladies brought a picnic lunch with a bottle of wine. I was jealous! They do have vending machines for snacks and beverages. This was a beautiful ride and very interesting to see how locals receive their mail and... More
