You don't have to go to Boston or NY to come into contact with first rate European and American works of art. Excellent layout; very visitor friendly, free of charge cloak room, cafeteria, helpful docents and reception staff. If you live in New England or are visiting from out of the area, a must see.

This is a nice museum in a great area; arts district in downtown. Just right to spend a few hours on a rainy afternoon. The photography collection from the J.P.Getty museum is well worth seeing.

We visit the museum every spring - after spectating and supporting our daughter in the Boston Marathon. It's always nice. Over this winter they changed out a lot of their exhibits - so their collection has largely rotated. We enjoy their central location and the regional focus of their collections - though they have art from around the world. They... More

For so many reasons this museum is worth a visit. The changing exhibits are always interesting in some way, the museum's own collection is wonderful and pleasant little food/beverage area to meet a friend or just relax. I love the gift shop too! And don't forget to check out the fabulous films the museum shows each week. I feel blessed... More

Our B & B gave us complimentary tickets to this art museum. So we decided to go. We were amazed at the paintings that they had! Renior, Matisse, Cassatt, Picasso....just to name a few! So glad we decided to spend the afternoon here!

I took my two children to the Portland Museum of Art during an impromptu visit to Portland. My first surprise: the admission. I only had to pay $15, as my children are under 14 and they were free! The collection photographs (on loan from the Getty Museum) alone was already so impressive that we needed a break in the cafe... More

Well worth a visit, this red brick facade fronts a lovely light space with a great variety of art to view. With works by local and also famous artists, there USC much to enjoy.
