I've had the pleasure of going to the Orono Bog Boardwalk several times as an undergraduate student at UMaine. Beautiful place for families, nature walks, and first-dates. It's amazing that nature this lovely is so close by to local shops and a university.

Easy walk over the bog on the boardwalk. Interesting to see all the different vegetation. Great trails for hiking if you are more ambitious.

My husband and I had 5 hours to kill in the Bangor area while waiting for a plane. We took this walk and were fascinated by the unique conditions, flora and fauna, and the excellent interpretive stops along the way. This peat bog preserve is...More

We spent about one hour walking the boardwalk and were quite impressed by the uniqueness of the bog and the surrounding foliage. Well worth the stop if you are in Orono ME. Remember to bring your camera!

So cool to walk through a bog! You feel like you are in the middle of nowhere even though it's right down the road from Walmart. Many pitcher plants, cool cottony plants blowing in the breeze. There are benches along the boardwalk as well as...More

Pretty walk over the bog on decking, some sections along the walk have railings. Some of the walk is shaded with trees which helps on hot days. One of my favorite places to walk and it's not a strenuous walk either.

This boardwalk was very fun! My husband and I were able to go for a nice walk and learn things along the way. There are informative boards along the way where we learned about what is in Maine's woods from animals to plants and trees!...More

It was a nice walk but we didn't see any animals or interesting plants. Maybe we need to come back a different week.

Loved learning different things about the wildlife in the area, and it is a good walk. Once we finished with the bog area, we kept walking in the trails.

Where else can one walk through a bog? The boardwalk has been almost completely redone with Trex planking and there are benches periodically so you can sit down to drink in the beauty that surrounds you.
