Climbing the mountain was a challenge. I was concerned that I might have problems with the new plate and pins in my ankle but they fared well during this test drive. The view from the top was amazing. definately something worth while to do

Mt. Katahdin is an amazing collection of peaks and trails to challenge everyone. The views are priceless, but take the commitment and level of required preparedness seriously.

Knife edge is my favorite trail, like walking along the top of the world, amazing views, but they are all great. It's worth the effort.

We have hiked most all of New Hampshires 4000+ footers but this mountain takes the cake. Every way up is challenging and most trails are more technical then anything else in the northeast. Not for the faint of heart, but one for the bucket list.

We want to go up and camp in order to meet our son as he finishes the AT hike. Some of us may also like to hike Katahdin. Any suggestions on which campgrounds are most convenient to climbing Katahdin?

Many. The Hunt trail goes up past Katahdin Stream Falls, and if you head the opposite direction from K.S. campground you come to "Little Niagra" and "Big Niagra" both of which are impressive.
