Description:

This is a demonstration of lobster fishing and information about lobster...

This is a demonstration of lobster fishing and information about lobster biology, Maine lobster fisheries, commercial aspects of the fishery and last but not least, some local history. Fun for the whole family.

The Rugosa is a real wooden lobster boat out on the Gulf of Maine and is not really appropriate for children under 4 years of age. There are no facilities for baby changing and very young children are often times, a distraction to the rest of the guests aboard the boat enjoying the presentation. Baby sitting services are available in the area and the Nonantum resort has the contact info for these services.

This boat tour was a particular highlight of our trip around New England. We didn't really know what to expect but were very impressed by the educational nature of the trip. The guides' passion for lobster is infectious, and we learned a lot about the lives of these fascinating creatures. The fact that we threw them back into the sea... More

Learned a lot about lobster fishing from David and felt totally safe in the hands of skipper Bob. Wouldn't have missed it for the world. They were lovely characters.

Boat tour takes you out of the Kennebunk river into the Atlantic (never that far from shore). Beautiful views of the shoreline. Guide explains how lobsters are harvested, and actually brings up a lobster trap from the ocean floor to show how its done. Boat goes pretty close to Walker point, which is private peninsula holding the Bush compound (3-4... More

What a fun tour! Rugosa Lobster Tours offers a unique opportunity to learn about a mainstay in the culture and economy of the Maine coastal communities. Offered with just the right amount of education about lobsters, lobster men, and lobstering- this tour is complete with a chance to hold a lobster and release it back into the wild. Set with... We always travel in the fall to Maine, this trip being later than usual. We've never done any boat touring before and tried Rugosa's after reading good reviews. You need to book your reservations on line, which is an easy process, but I messed it up. Very simple process, but we wanted a Thursday. I booked it online, thinking I... More

Six of us traveling together enjoyed the knowledge, experience and humor that made this a " MUST DO" if traveling in Maine. We all learned a lot of information and facts that were unknown to any of us prior to this hour and a half tour of the bay. We were lucky weather wise which made the tour very nice.... More

Our family -- wife and two kids(ages 12 and 10) went out on the Ragosa yesterday. Our first time on a lobster boat and loved the entire experience. The boat was in great condition for a real lobster boat, and both the Captain and Jeff (shipmate) provided a very safe, fun, and highly educational experience for everyone on the boat.... More
