My husband and parents and I boated out to Eagle Island to take a look around. Even though the main building/house was closed to the public, the grounds keeper helped us dock and visit the island. We peeked in the windows, walked the trails and gave our dog an opportunity to play on land after a bit on the boat.... More

Admiral Peary's home has been well maintained. The staff is very helpful and knowledgable about him and his family. The views are amazing. It is a wonderful place to take a picnic, play on the beach, take a walk around the island.

Took a boat from the Dolphin Restaurant. Definitely worth the trip to see the house that was Admiral Peary's house.

We took Atlanti Seal Cruises for our trip to the island, we brought a light lunch and enjoyed it while taking in the excellent view. The tour includes seeing inside the house as well as some artifacts. After having seen the museum in Brunswick, Maine it was nice to see where the Peary's summered. It was a very good trip.

Eagle is a wonderful spot to enjoy the natural beauty of Casco Bay. Admiral Perry bought this island for $300 in 1880, and his family gifted it to the state in the 1990s. The place is well kept, and there is a ferry boat from the Dolphin in South Harpswell that can take you if you don't have your own... More

After a short ride out from Harpswell's Dolphin Marina on the Marie L (there is a fee for the excursion; we paid $30 per person), you reach the dock at Eagle Island. When the tide is very low, as it was during our visit, the walk up from the dock is quite steep; the island is not wheel chair accessible... More

This is wonderful place to visit. We kayak out that way and have taken several visitors there. The history is amazing and the museum is staffed by wonderful local people, who are doing what they love. A must see if you can there.

We ended up going to Eagle Island on a seal watch cruise. We hadn't even seen the blurb about visiting Eagle Island so we weren't aware of the stop there. I have sled dogs here in Vermont and have read many books on arctic exploration so I'm very aware of Perry's exploits. I found the tour of his old family... More

We finally visited, and are so glad that we did, what a lovely home/museum on a beautiful island. The audio tour was good, learned much more about Admiral Peary then I ever knew. Their are walking trails, flower beds and a beautiful view in every direction. The docent was enthusiastic and informative, thank goodness they have dedicated volunteers preserving this... More
