relaxing drive

My husband and I enjoyed driving route 1. It was peaceful and made for easy stopping. You need extra time to take this route, but it is worth it.

Drove from Freeport to Bar Harbor. Lots of small towns and villages and some with lots of activity for a Sunday afternoon. Everything seems to happen in the downtown area of these communities. Wish we had more time to explore more of the towns. Beautiful scenery.

Great store...you can find anything you want/need, and then some! My guy is not a shopper...and he loved it here!

Beautiful coastal drive through some lovely communities. If you love New England architecture and you have the time to stop for local crafts, antiques and pottery then this drive is for you.

So much more to see than the interstate. Highway is in good maintenance. Two-lane non-divided highway. Great views along the way including lighthouse (Pemaquid Point) visits and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge as well as bays and rivers along with colorful river towns. Great drive.

There is so much to see and to do in this area. The Wild Bird Store is amazing. Lots of clothes and shoes stores to check out. Lots of eateries to eat at. Be prepared to be overwhelmed!

L.L.Bean in Freeport. Incredible stores as they have one store per specialty...one for hunting/ fishing, one for kayaks and surf boards, one for clothing, etc. Open 24 hours. Took a drive to Brunswick and its waterways leading down to ocean...beautiful sights of coves, lobster fishing, boats of all kinds....worth every mile right down to Orr and Bailey's Islands. Well worth... More

They call the stores outlets, however, they really aren't. Would rather go to Westport CT. Didn't find many good deals, as you would think.

Best stop was at the Maine State Prison Store. Unique wood works created by the inmates at wonderful prices. Could furnish a home with very unique pieces and mariner decorations. Good kids toys and carvings as well. Located in Thomaston.
