This is a gorgeous lighthouse. Maybe one of the prettiest in the U.S.A. I would highly recommend a visit if in the Portland, ME area. Make sure to walk along the shore to get the best views of the lighthouse. A definite must see!

This lighthouse is absolutely beautiful, and you have to see it at sunset. It gives a whole other atmosphere to the place.

Beautiful, iconic lighthouse with a commanding view of Portland harbor. Fun to just watch the boats sail by.

I probably could of stayed here all day just watching the waves crash against the rocks. We visited on a Sunday, which is why it was probably was super crowded. There were several tour buses coming and going. The parking lot was pretty full, luckily we found a spot (free parking). This is a free attraction.

What a beautiful setting! Bright blue skies, the Atlantic Ocean, old military ramparts, rolling hills, and sea gulls wheeling overhead. Everyone should see this one, whether you are a fan of lighthouses or not. Beautiful.

I do not give out "excellent" ratings often but this is definitely a "must-see" in the state of Maine, and probably the whole country. I've read that this is the most photographed lighthouse in the country, and when you are there, you definitely understand why. It is picturesque, probably in any weather. We were unable to go in the tower... More

The sweeping light was visible as we landed at the Portland Jetport the night before - but the fabulous vista from this prominent location was a wonderful tourist stop for us the next day. Commissioned by General George Washington, the craggy coast has been marked for generations of sea captains by this wonderful historic landmark.
