Wished we had more time to hike around while visiting, but we did drive up to the site of the old house and it was beautiful! Scored some wild blueberries while there too.

We visited this park on our recent trip to Camden and I was at a loss of words, it was just that beautiful. It is a short drive to the top where there is ample parking. There is an incredible view of the harbor (boats,...More

But Mount Megunticook, that is adjacent to Battie, costs nothing to walk up and you can, if you're a bit adventurous, walk up Megunticook via the route 52 access not route 1, across to Battie then down Battie (2 1/2 to 3 hours). View over...More

Thank-you GIDAYE for taking the time to offer your comments. There is a better access to the 25 mile trail system and all the features of the park at the main entrance just north of Camden on Route 1. At the main entrance you'll have...More

Loved this hike. It was a tough rock scramble at moments but totally worth it for the view. If the hike is too tough, you can drive up from the campground.

You simply have to go to the top of this mountain in Camden if you’re there for more than a day. Drive to the top or hike it (it’s about 1.5 miles each way), but go. The views are spectacular.

It was frustrating to find, because Google maps and navigation take you to the wrong place. Just go about a mile north of Camden on Hwy 1 to Camden Hills State Park and turn West into the park. It's so easy, but the navigation will...More

Thank-you for taking the time to write such a factual account of the park and trails. I need to contact Google Maps to get the park's main entrance correctly located. We did have success a number of years ago making the same change but it...More

We qualified for free admission as residents and seniors... we went for the view and some photos. Aside from that, there are a number of hiking trails and what appears to be a nice campground. The 1.6 mile drive to the summit is on a...More

Thank-you for taking the time to offer comments on your recent visit. The bumpy road you reference was last paved in 1979! How's that for stretching the dollar? I am always pushing for a new road surface; the cost to resurface the road is way...More

Great views from the top of the park! The weather was pretty hot when we were there so we chose to drive to the top. Fantastic views! Later, we made our way across the road to the other half of the park in a wooded...More

What an incredible view! We only had a short time for a diversion during a long road trek. We took the auto road which led us to sites made for postcards! Such a beautiful view of Camden and the greater harbor. A time of refreshment.

Yes, fireworks can be viewed from the summit of Mt. Battie. It's a different perspective, looking down rather than up. The fireworks usually are shot from a barge in the harbor - about 1.5 miles from the summit. We used to... More
