Go beyond the myths of the Old South and walk in the footsteps of 4 generations of one Creole family, both free and enslaved, who lived together in complicated, intimate family relationships on this sugar plantation that remained a world apart from the United States through the first decades of the 20th century. Laura is open daily from 9:30AM - 5PM except for major holidays. The first tour of the day begins at 10AM with tours beginning approximately every 40 minutes thereafter until the last tour of the day at 4PM. Before or after your Laura tour, enjoy authentic, homestyle Cajun food at B&C Seafood Market and Cajun Restaurant right next door.

Amazing tour of a classic Creole plantation. Our guide, Renee, was so knowledgeable and provided an intimate story of the Duparc family and the slaves they owned. I left feeling I had peeked through a window into history. I cannot recommend this tour enough.

Plantation tours are highly dependent on the guide and their knowledge and style. We were fortunate to have Kristyn be ours. She did a fantastic job narrating the family history of the Laura Plantation, looping back to relevant facts and helping us transport ourselves into the era. Her highly humanistic description of the slave and master life was particularly poignant....... More

Made a trip down down from Baton Rouge. Learned a lot about plantation life and the history of the area. Very worth while. Tour guide was Renée, who grew up in the area. She was awesome, with lots of great stories.

On our way to Texas from New Orleans we decided to go off the beaten path and discovered Laura's Plantation. The setting itself is lovely with banana trees, a French garden and lots of tropical plants. The tour was phenomenal. Our guide Lindi, was beyond knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the plantation. She knew details about the lives... More

Informative tour and beautiful, park like grounds. Highly recommend. It's about an hour from NOLA. If you book online you can save $2/ticket.

I would have love to visit this plantation because of all the good reviews I read about it. But the staff there didn't make it possible. I called to say we'll be few minutes late for the last tour and they told me they had already closed the house. Worst, they lied to me just to get rid of me... More

Thank you for your review. It appears that there was a bit of confusion and miscommunication about your scheduled visit. Because Laura’s last tour of the day is scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm and due to the time it takes to complete the tour in addition to the diminished daylight at this time of year, it is impossible for... The tour was very interesting and informative about the family and history of the property .It was definitely more about the story of the plantation than about things/ possessions in the house so don t expect to see many antiques or family belongings.Nice shop for souvenirs, didn't realize this is where the Brer Rabbit stories came from , took me... The guide's stories were thoughtful and delivered skillfully by our lady guide. We learned a great deal about the creoles as owners and about their slaves making for a very worthwhile hour and a half. The property is a pleasure to examine and photograph.
