The E. D. White house is a state museum. The house is small compared to other plantation homes in Louisiana. The exhibits were very educational and well done. The house did not have furnishings like other homes, but it is simple, educational and a very cozy place. It was home to Edward White who was a Confederate officer who later... More

Visiting a smaller plantation showed a different and interesting perspective. Our guide said he was just filling in, but I can't imagine the regular guide doing any better! He was very knowledgeable about the property and delightful to talk with. Particularly enjoyed his memories of growing up on the river. This property has to be a gem for the locals...with... More

Learn a little about Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court E.D. White and his family and childhood home. Totally free state historic site. Walk the small grounds and tour the home. Great staff. Easy

We had a great tour! We enjoyed the history and were surprised that the tour was free! The tour is a self- guided tour for the most part, after some brief information from the staff. The male staff member even brought us an umbrella to get us back to the car since it was raining. It was greatly appreciated!

While this is a smaller plantation home it still represents a lot of history pertinent to this area. Named after a prominent landowner and statesman the E.D. White site gives the visitor a glimpse into a simpler time. Additions and renovations make the grounds and house interesting and informative. Activites are occasionally held on the grounds to promote community interests.... More

Nothing special but is a good start point before to go to more popular places. It's free and nice. Nothing special inside but you could learn a lot about White family

This tour is very laid back. You can have a guided or self-guided tour. The house was interesting and informative. The best things are the 375 and 400 year old live oaks!!

E.D. White House is the story of how a young Cajun boy , who was well educated in the law became the Chief Justice of the United States. Many of the artifacts are from the period of time when White lived. It shows the transition of a man to a high ranking government official.

Mr. Herb was excellent in showing us around. We enjoyed the tour very much. He was very helpful in answering any questions we had, and also in suggesting other places for us to visit. Beautiful place to visit and free. Just give a donation if you can to help with maintenance, please
