Absolutely incredible experience. Lovely bayou around the rental site, including herons, eagles, and alligators. All equipment was clean and functional. Every effort was made for our comfort, especially with the current pandemic. I am planning on going again soon.

Excellent paddle, we saw alligators as well as bald eagles. Very Small family owned business. They do sell water and smack bars.

Make sure you eat a hardy breakfast before you go! It's a long bayou and you have hours of paddling ahead of you. If it's warm out, bring some water with you because it's quite the workout! The owner is very nice and accommodating. If you bring your phone out with you put it in a water tight container (some of the bigger kayaks have on-board containers) or at the very least in a ziplock. Your shoes will get wet, so wear something that can handle that. I recommend taking a map (even one on your phone is good enough) with you. The bayou isn't quite what we expected! We assumed it would be a spooky swamp full of critters and the song from Deliverance playing in the distance. But in-fact it's just a big river with lots of industry and fishing going on in the various lakes, bayous and waterways that connect to the Mississippi river. Don't let that stop you! There is a lot of wildlife to see. We saw lots of snowy white egrets, turtles, jumping carp (which is an amusing sight, even though they're an invasive species), and lots of other birds. We also encountered a border patrol/customs boat which was kind of funny. We didn't see any alligators, but it was pretty cold out when we went. The farther up the bayou you go, the quieter it gets, and the more wildlife you will encounter. If you want to see a real deal swampy bayou, head out afterwards to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve visitor center and go for a hike!…

Thank you for the review and the information for other customers! Our routes make it possible for people to experience Barataria Preserve without the plant growth that has made the smaller bayous impassable. I'm glad you came to visit us and saw an abundance of wildlife (and interesting boats!) We hope that you join us again.
