A lift-accessible rooftop walkway is open daily while a £5.4m roof project is underway. The roof is being replaced to protect the house and the collection. In daily 'Tag-a-Tile' workshops, visitors can leave their own mark on The Vyne by drawing a picture or writing a message on the underside of a tile for a suggested donation of £5. The tile will then go on the roof for centuries to come. In an event argued to have impacted the course of English history, Henry VIII visited his Lord Chamberlain William Sandys at The Vyne on the cusp of the Reformation in 1535. Visitors can dive into this royal visit on the ground floor of the house. This former Tudor palace turned 17th-century family home is set in 1500 acres of gardens, woodland and wetlands. An excellent couple of hours predominately spent viewing the extensive roof repairs which are due to be completed by end January 2018.

We spent a nice hour in the house recently and it is still under renovation. There is a modern take with the nicely displayed furniture and lighting making a couple of rooms look more like Ikea with the scaffolding tubing showing off chandeliers and lamps....More

I managed to escape KGB and slip through the fence to this glorious location. So many places to hide yourself and items. They have the best staff and got to borrow a uniform to blend in

We enjoyed our day out at the Vyne and the walks were great. However what spoilt it for us was the cost of food in the Cafe. Sandwiches were marked at £3.95. We bought a ham and salad sandwich. I was expecting something substantial for...More

It is well fenced but I should certainly want to hold on to a toddler in case they tried climbing. An elderly relative should be fine as the fence is a good height and, even if someone was a little unsteady on their feet... More

You don't have to pay for entrance if you're only doing the woodland walk. You can park for free by the Vyne car park. As you head to the Visitor Reception, turn right, go through the black metal gates (be mindful of cows... More
