I looked on the visit Ireland website and it said the opening hours , I drove about two hours to visit on a Sunday in august when you would have thought it being the height of the tourist season ,would have been a peak day , Dev being half American and well know outside Ireland I should think plenty of foreign visitors would be interested and then like me disappointed . It was hard to find and was locked up with a notice on the door saying you need a appointment - this is a little difficult as you only know it when you have already arrived . I was frustrated and sad to be let down like this and felt it a poor reflection on the country as tourist destination ( not so much the attraction by visit Ireland for having misleading information on there website. As the reviews from people who were lucky enough to get in seem positive , I would suggest ringing before you visit to avoid wasting your time

Nice museum with lots of original items. Learnt quite a bit. Well worth spending and hour or so. Nice heritage centre attached. A visit to De Valera"s cottage can be arranged as it is outside the village.

I truly thought I knew everything there was to know about this man but i was so wrong. You are taken back in time visually to his school days and early years of his life. Through set panels and audio visual along with many personal memorabilia you are brought through his life, it was excellent. I found it difficult to understand why this museum is not advertised more as so much is there to view.

It's a real hidden gem. Fantastic & enthusiastic curator Tracy Lenihan. Treated to a cup of tea at the end of the tour then brought us our to the house and opened it for us. The OPW has taken charge of the house but the museum needs funds to help with repairs and signage.
