Our tour guide frank was just lovely and very informative. We were in for about 90 mins altogether I believe you should visit the old Capitol building first then this.

This is a beautiful building with much interesting history, expertly told by the wonderful guide. The building had been derelict for a number of years and has lost the land at the back of the property. In recent times it has been restored well, but within the limitations of a modest budget. I get the impression it doesn't attract too... More

A mighty fine old building that has been kept in pristine condition. Located in the heart of Baton Rouge right on the Mississippi river.

After hearing about how beautiful the mansion was for many years,I was extremely disappointed. We were there for a bridal show and could not believe the current state of things. There were very obvious cracks/ holes throughout (which someone at our table who inquired about renting the facility for their wedding told us that the crew of pitch perfect is... More

Both the old governors mansion and old state Capitol are closed today. Signs say they're open as well as websites. It would have been nice to know before driving all this way!!!!

As part of Louisiana's history it is well worth a visit to see how the Governor lived in days gone by. There are regular tours with very informative guides. Make this one place to visit alongside the Current and Old State Capitol Buildings.

My husband and I were lucky enough to catch the last tour of the day, and the guide we had was excellent. The mansion is pretty much decorated and restored to its original state, and each room is dedicated to a different governor. The history, especially about former Governor Huey Long, is quite interesting, and it makes you want to... More

This building was really very amazing... The history of Louisiana is explained very well, the triumphs, the defeats,etc... There is a whole lot of things we weren't aware of that helped explain present day Louisiana. Bring your camera.
