The Speed's $50-plus million renovation included the addition of a cinema and a full-time film curator, bringing foreign, independent, and other "small" films to the city. The curator often joins the audience at the start of showings to give background. And filmmakers themselves sometimes also give talks. There are also other special treats sometimes. On one visit, we saw a... More

If you admire art in any way you need to visit! It really doesn't matter what style you prefer, they have it all. There are also really interesting and interactive centers in the basement that kids absolutely love! BONUS: free on Sundays!

Lots and lots of money was spent expanding one of the really great small Art Museums in the country into an average much bigger and colder museum. The layout and displays seem confusing, Great signage but much of it is placed almost on the floor, so reading some of it is very hard. Special events for members not as good... More

First time going back since it reopened and the modifications are great. The main draw was the Out The Box exhibit. I could only briefly go to the rest of the museum but what I saw was really good.

So excited to see the museum after its 3 1/2 year renovation. The collection looks so good and has some real gems. Gallery 1 was a great overview of the different areas of the collection and Gallery 2 helped you think about ways to approach looking at art (thinking about how objects are made, their context, technique, and how we... This was our first visit since the remodeling/expansion of the Speed Museum. We appreciated the integration of contemporary and earlier artwork and the more open and well lighted spaces. We enjoyed seeing both familiar pieces from past exhibits and new works. We didn't find the addition particularly distinctive architecturally, but really enjoyed the reflecting pool. In all, we enjoyed the... More

As an undergrad at UL the Speed Art Museum was a rather dark and dreary looking place. Not anymore. This is a new and improved space-vastly improved. This is a good place to spend the day viewing art and perhaps grabbing a cup of coffee at Wiltshire's at The Speed Museum. They also have a free guided tour at 1... More

Highly recommend for a unique company event. Lovely museum. Nice area for cocktails. Food was very good and everyone really enjoyed the evening. Parking was very convenient. I'd do a company event there again.

Excellent art museum for the family with children over the age of 10! Beautiful, interesting displays with a helpful detailed map to chart your way. Easy, close, ($8.00 tops) access to parking. The children's area in the basement is geared more toward school age kids with fantastic interactive light displays and some of the most insightful and compelling art masterpiece... More
