Art is the Big Idea, and Craft is the Process. Connecting people to art and creative practice. KMAC Museum is a contemporary art museum located in Louisville's historic downtown on Museum Row. The Museum explores the relationship between art and craft by identifying art as big idea and craft as the intersection between process, materials and labor. Our goal is to educate and inspire while promoting a better understanding of art through exhibitions, education and collections.

Loved that this museum was free and that the docents/staff were so nice. The museum consists of three levels, although I accidentally took the elevator up to the fourth level which is staff offices. The most memorable exhibit that I viewed was related to textiles...More

Love KMAC and all they are doing as a steward of arts and culture in Louisville. They have tons of events that appeal to a wide variety of audiences, so there is literally something for everyone at some point in the year. Check it out!

Very small art museum on Main St. There are 3 floors, but only a few things to see on each floor. The neatest item was a wooden boat on the 3rd floor. A lot of the art was rather bizarre, including a strange video of...More

This small but well planned exhibit space offers thoughtful displays and interesting works of art. The gift shop has a number of local artists' crafts and you can take home the art of Louisville! There is no fee to visit but there is a suggested...More

Oh, my, how sad. Someone knows this as it was "donation only" admittance because the first and third floor were the only places available. The first floor contained boring posters and the third floor contained some works made by local artists and collected by a...More
