I've been to Raven Run twice and each time have had such a fun time each visit. Only thing I'd say is on the map they rate the trails easy to hard and I don't think the ratings accurately reflect the level of difficultly.

This is by far the beat place for family outtings. The scenery is majestic. All the colors that are everywhere, makes this a great place for picnics, walks, hiking (they have hiking trails) and just to be close to nature. Some nights they have Star...More

There are a variety of trails with wildflowers galore. The trail to the overlook of the Kentucky River is mostly in the shade; there are benches for rest along the route. Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring a picnic and a camera.

Love Raven's Run. Plenty of trails, scenery and wildlife. Only two drawbacks for me - #1 just too many people (this can be a good thing, but I crave a bit more serenity); and #2 closes too early - especially in the Summer when it...More

Nice place for hiking. Trails clearly marked. Easier to more difficult trails. Didn't make it to the overlook but heard it's very nice. Would go back again.

Lovely place for a hike. Great trails and not too crowded. The visitor center is basic but interesting and offers information on hikes and things to look out for. Good range of trails and great views of the Kentucky river.

It's easy to get to from Lexington, but still has that out-in-the-country feel. The trails I saw were nicely maintained. Would love to come out and spend more time here.

Nice trails and beautiful views overlooking the Palisades on the KY River. Easy to get to and very close to Lexington.

I would love to see an overlook of the Palisades, but can't hike very far. Are there any easy to get to overlooks that are within half an hour of Lexington? Thanks!

I'm sorry Linda. I was just visiting the area from North Carolina. I do not know the area well enough to give you suggestions on where to go. Hope you find what you are looking for!
I'd like to go eat before or after (I am coming from Ohio); any towns or places to eat close by?

This location is outside the city of Lexington Kentucky, the second largest city in the Commonwealth. There are plenty of places to eat but you will have to drive about 5 miles.

They do not. It's a preserve so they won't allow pets. We take our dogs to the Gorge.
