A great collection of a wide range of items collected by Royal householder.

Well outside the heart of Doha but worth it. Most economic way to travel is to take metro to Mall of Qatar Station (Al Biffa) and then Uber the last part. (You will be able to get another one back to the station after you finish your tour!)

The museum itself is undergoing some upgrades so the car collection is only partially available, this was the only disappointing part of the visit, but the car collection was my main reason to visit.

Textiles, weaponry, furniture, vehicles, are just a few of the too numerous items to list. A large venue which could be a tour of a couple of hours or more if particularly interested in items.

Good WiFi access, but museum app not essential to enjoy the site.

Great display of an enormous personal collection of artefacts
May 2021 • Friends
Located on the Dukhan road around 40 minutes drives from Doha the museum is very easy to find and well signposted. Have to show your Qatar ID or passport at the first vehicle entrance and then usual Covid safety checks on entry. Entrance fee QAR 50 for adults, 30 for 13-22 years and free under 12. Lots of free parking (but no shelter). The museum is enormous but laid out in huge galleries in authentic local stone which look fantastic. Galleries include weaponry, cars, textiles, architectural exhibits, ceramics, fossils, clothes, Dhows, Camel and Horse artefacts, paintings, sculptures and much much more!. The exhibits are well displayed with some historical information. The artefacts are not just Qatari but collected items by Sheikh Faisal from across the world. There is also a nice cafe to take a break. Staff everywhere are very friendly and helpful. They are adding a huge extension in the same authentic local architectural style. There are also beautiful stables to visit and an Oryx sanctuary. This is a great place to visit and you really could spend a whole day there. A visit highly recommended for residents and Qatar visitors.

Massive yet doesn't loose it charm in any section!!

To reach from Doha city to the Museum it may take around 45min or so.
At the entrance of the premises the guard take the photo of your Qid card and also the vehicle number plate. One you are inside the compound you will see direction for Oryx Reserve Area, Al Maha Stable, White Majlis, other MAjlis, and the Museum.
Parking is available and is free.
Upon arrival at the reception you will pay for the Museum entry, fee is Qar30 per adult. Once the ticket is bought another helpdesk staff explains you the Museum map. Mohammed Shabir explained us the map and offered complimentary Arabic coffee with dates.

We started exploring the Museum and were amazed with mindblowing collection in this museum. The sections have different themes. Some has war weapons, royal dresses, ancient pots, entire room and kitchen, exquite collection of carpets, furniture, music, vintage cars, boats, first qatar hospital eqipments, flora collection, and Quran collection (largest to tiniest) and the most mindblowing section was the section where the whole Syrian house which was bought from there. Another section where Local Qatari rooms/kitchen/sitting area from olden times- is there.
This place has lots to offer. Incase you would like to wear traditional outfit and picture with local traditional sitting area as backdrop, there is a studio section as well to picture that, at an additional charge. There is another activity desk for arabic caligraphy. These two are just close to the exit where the sovenier shop and cafe is located.

Washroom and praying areas for male and female is well taken care of.

When you exit you have a small cafe and sovenier shop. and you can than walk back to the parking from here.
The other side of the premises has Oryx farm, you can see so many many Oryx here. Also there are Stables. There is hose riding coaching centre too.

Completely fell in love with the passion and intense collection of The Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani. It actually is "A journey through time and place"

A must must visit place in Qatar.

An Hugmongous collection of everything
Nov 2019
It is a huge ware house for a collector of everything old which included an original washing machine. To do justice, it can take more than 1 day to completely inspect the collection. Our group barely walked through it in one hour. When you come out, there is an oryx compound to see which was the highlight.

Great stop on your Qatar visit
Sep 2019
Museums are always a good place to quickly learn about a city or country and this is no exception. It is a great stop on your Qatar visit.

The mere fact that the contents of the museum is from the personal collection of Sheikh Faisal shows you the immense wealth, influence and rich history of the man and his ancestry. Although it was an unguided tour, walking through the different parts of the museum felt like you were transported back in time and educated on how life was back then.

It was noon time when we visited and really hot outside. But it was comfortable inside the museum. The staff is friendly and very accommodating - we were even able to try on the traditional costumes of the people for some nice pictures.

Good place to bond with friends and family.
