never saw rhinos up close without a fence between us. Amazing experience. The ranger who took us there was really nice. He knew everything about the animals, and really cares for them. It was a unique experience to see them so closely, and we were happy to support this initiative. We were late enough in the day to see the... More

We drove with the guide to the proximity of the rhinos, and walked a few hundred yards and took pictures with the rhinos behind us about 35 feet! Awesome!

VERY GOOD - We were happy to visit this sanctuary to see the fantastic, necessary and successful work being undertaken here with the southern white rhinos. It is also very sad to think they were completely wiped out in this country. We didn't even have to walk far, as two rhinos were just behind the cafe and guiding area and... More

This is a special place where you will see the only white rhinos in Uganda outside of the zoo. The rhinos are monitored 24/7 and so a ranger can always take you to see one if you are willing to walk a bit. However, sometimes they wander right up to the restaurant on site so you might not have to... More

We had a great experience here, the staff had great knowledge of the rhinos and the sanctuary do great work in keeping the white rhino from extinction. They really look after the animals and keep them safe from poaching. The rhinos are beautiful and such amazing animals, they are really worth a visit. I would have loved to stay the... More

Loved this place! We pulled in at 2:45pm and by 4 we were traipsing through swamps on the lookout for Rhinos! According to our guide we got particularly lucky as we ended up seeing 8 of them. What an amazing and unique experience to be able to witness them in their natural environment at such close proximity. We saw lots... More

My friends and I were able to experience the rhino trekking on our way back from the Amuka Safari Lodge, also located within the sanctuary. Sadly, we found out that we were not able to get the residents price because we did not have our passports and work permits on us. Although this is only a $10 price difference, and... More

Got to track rare rhinos on foot through grassland, bushland and swampland. Very thrilling being so close to these beautiful creatures. The rhinos move quickly! The sanctuary is well kept. Quite expensive but at least it goes to a good cause. Excellent guide, also.

We added a trip to the Rhino Sanctuary onto a safari tour and were really excited about going trekking, but were incredibly underwhelmed by the whole experience. "Trekking" involved driving five minutes, parking, and then walking to a known spot about seven minutes away. When we got there, there was another group already there looking at a sleeping rhino and... More

Dara C, thank you for your Trip Advisor Review. I wish to start by clarifying that the restaurant you visited as well as the accommodation at our Head Quarters is privately owned and managed and in effect has absolutely NOTHING to do with Rhino Fund Uganda or the rhino program. Unfortunately we have no control in what they do or... More

We arrived and, having lunch on the open deck of the dining room, were greeted by a pair of roaming Rhinos. We were in the area with a boundary--the rhinos went wherever they liked. For our trek, we were within 20 yards of a Rhino and her child. I remembered the park's instructions ("if a Rhino charges you, look for... More
