About
The first and only Kentucky Distillery to offer every visitor a single-barrel thieving/tasting experience, at barrel strength. Guests are invited to fill their own bottle of single-batch distilled Kentucky Bourbons and Rye Whiskies straight from the barrel, uncut and unfiltered, from grain grown on our own Three Boys Farm. Whiskey Thief Distilling Co. in rural Franklin County is a celebration of single-barrel Bourbon crafted by single-batch distillation. Located on a 127-acre working farm in the heart of Kentucky, the 10-year-old distillery combines a unique thieving experience with Bluegrass hospitality for a one-of-a-kind whiskey adventure. For Bourbon wanderlusters who know there’s nothing like uncovering a hidden gem, Whiskey Thief Distilling Co. is a destination unlike any other.

Not only was tasting bourbon right out of the barrel awesome, being able to chose your favorites and fill your bottle was the experience of a lifetime. I just finished one of my bottles which was by far my favorite from our Kentucky trip. It was expensive, but worth every penny.

We showed up at Three Boys/Whiskey Thief right at opening time on a Saturday and found ourselves behind 3 or 4 packed tour vans. We had reservations (unfortunately a requirement for visiting distilleries now) so we went in and managed to crowd surf to the check in area. We had booked just a tasting and not the full tour so we were then able to hop right to the tasting area which luckily none of the tour groups had made it to yet and this was where things turned around. Our guide, Edie, led us through the tasting experience and we really enjoyed chatting with her about the whiskeys and their processes and history. She didn't hurry us at all and gave us our own experience which was very much appreciated. It would have been easy to herd us through, but she didn't do that.
The whiskey is very good, and it is their own product, which isn't the case with a lot of the other boutique type distillery experiences in the area. We couldn't justify the price per bottle to take some home, even with the added perk of bottling and labeling it ourselves. It would be nice to have some more modestly priced options, but I also get why they don't. Bourbon is booming like crazy right now and these folks are riding the wave, so good for them!

To be honest, we weren’t expecting much on this visit. It was a quick stop in between tours and was recommended by a friend. The bourbon was INCREDIBLE, it could easily compete with the big names on a shelf. They don’t distribute so you have to bottle your own bourbon with the whisky thief which is an awesome experience, you also get your own tasting glass to keep. Each barrel you try is practically one of a kind so you might as well buy a bottle just to say you have it. It’s a little pricey, but WELL worth it. It tastes great and you’re supporting a small craft distillery. Can’t wait to go back!

This is a small place, and is not fancy. No gift shop, no flair…. But good bourbon and an experience that you don’t get at the “big” places.
The tour is really nothing at all, so you pay for the tasting-which is a fine experience… you get a glass (to keep) and you are offered 5 tastings straight from the barrels right in front of you and they explain each offering. Their bourbons are not for sale outside the distillery, so you can buy various size bottles of what you like-and bottle it yourself straight from the barrel, oak char and all.
Three Boys is laid back and common, but they have a fine product that many on the bourbon trail may miss because they aren’t a “big name”.
Take the time and check this place out.

Went with a group of 36 friends on a charter bus. They treated us all as friends. Got to do a tasting and fill our own bottles. They were making bourbon slushes which were great. We went to 3 other distilleries but liked this one the best. Highly recommended.

What a nice surprise as we wrap up two weeks on the Bourbon Trail. We discovered Three Boys Farm Distillery. You taste the bourbon straight from the barrel and you can fill your own bottles!
Staff was amazing and knowledgeable and will recommend them to everyone.

Really friendly tour guides. Super clean facility. Were able to use bourbon thief and fill our own bottles. Samples were very nice and well explained with plenty of time to understand and enjoy between.
Nice grill going for lunch outside, bar with good bourbon drinks outside too. This place rocks!

Just a great folksy experience to see a cool small distillery and operation. We had Carly and Hannah as our guides they did a fantastic job and had great energy showing their love for bourbon. We fill the bottle from the barrel and give the experience an absolute five. Was a nice break from some of the Disney style madhouse distilleries.

This stop ended up being a highlight of our trip! We had other big named distilleries on our agenda, but Three Boys made the best memories. We really enjoyed the laid back vibe, and friendliness of the staff. You really weren't on a time crunch here and could take your time to sample their bourbons. We ended up bottling our own!

Greetings! After your tour of Three Boys you can go approximately 15-20 minutes east to the city of Frankfort, our State Capitol. Plenty of hotel and adventure options there. You may want to check out the Meeting House B&B or the Capitol Plaza Hotel downtown, have lunch or dinner at Gibby's or Sarafinis. Plenty of options. (If you have time head out to Canoe KY and have a paddle on the KY river!)

While I'm not the distiller, he seemed very flexible as long as you call ahead of time.
