We stayed at the park and really enjoyed the wildlife. Warden Paul was awesome as were Levi and our guide Katami. We stayed in the bandas and a tent on the beach which was provided with hippos snorting at sunup as an alarm clock. You can cook your own food in the camp kitchen if you bring it. If you... More

We had visited Rubondo Island National Park, and in the end it was worth the effort of getting there. Our frustrations: getting up to date information on this place was horrible. I had emailed the Tanzania Parks Authority a week prior to going there and hadn't gotten a response. If you're travelling without a cell phone its difficult to get... More

Great views, great wildlife, just beautiful. Fish poaching is an issue that the local government really needs to deal with.

Rubondo Island hosts a wealth of wildlife from monkeys to elephants, my stay here was a true break from reality. Lovely, hospitable, and enticingly exotic, I enjoyed this long-lost treasure much more than other more tourist-filled attractions. I was able to see the island from a boat tour, which I highly suggest. It was easy to get close to shore... More

we loved the place and the wonderful hospitality of the management and our guide Habibu. Especially the freedom to make walking safaris and see the smaller wildlife close up, whilst keeping a careful distance from elephants, hippos and crocs! We were disappointed to see widespread poaching of the dwindling fish stocks going on in the protected areas of the lake... More

Fantastic place to relax and switch off after a Safari. Very exclusive as no other lodge or camp on the island. Great for birding, walking and just taking a deep breath in the heart of nature!

This is a magic little island, been here a few times and you can stay in the main camp on all inclusive rates with comfortable rooms with a restaurant, bar and small pool or in a more basic and very rustic self catering camp were you bring your own food and drink and cook your food on the fire. The... More

Rubondo Island is a great national park to visit. The boat-safari was great! We saw a lot of animals en beautifull birds. We also did a walking safari which was great to see more of the island and the nature. We stayed in cabana's and from there we could see the lake with hippo's in it.The rangers were really friendly.... More
