From the time man first took flight in the early 1900s to the recent shuttle missions into space, South Central Kentucky has played a significant role in the history of aviation. One of the first pilots to fly in combat claimed ties to Bowling Green, as did a World War I flying ace, a pioneer instructor pilot, a Vietnam war hero, Commanders of the famed Air Force Thunderbirds and Navy Blue Angels, the Commander/Pilot of "Marine One", the presidential helicopter unit and the Mission Commander for the space shuttle Atlantis. These aviators - and their ties to South Central Kentucky - deserve to be recognized and celebrated so that future generations might be made aware of and motivated by their extraordinary achievements. This is the mission of Aviation Heritage Park.

There are not many planes for viewing but the park is done very well and is worth stopping. It does look as though they are planning on adding additional planes though.

There are currently four planes on display. Most impressive is the NASA trainer flown by several legends who walked on the moon. If you like planes or military stuff, make this a stop. Bonus is that it is completely free. Allow 15-30 minutes.More

Glad you enjoyed your stop. We think visitors would like to visit for some of our events. Why not come fly kites with us in the spring, drones in the fall. June 17 is our annual Hangar Party at the BGWC Regional Airport. This year...More

Neat little park with several cool airplanes. It isn't large and doesn't take long, but it was a worthy stop during our visit in Bowling Green. Kids and adults enjoyed it.More

This well kept park with actual airplanes that most will never see up close let alone be able to stand beside and touch is worth the few minutes it takes to go see. The park is not far from the main road where you might...More

I would find it hard to believe that FOUR classic, historical aircraft are sitting out in the open to walk right up to. But that's the way it is! I was drawn to it since there is a NASA aircraft there that was flown by...More

One of the best small town aviation exhibits I have visited. Many of the static displays have ties to local pilots that flew the aircraft. The park is clean, well cared for and offers plenty of parking.More
