The Old Bardstown Village Civil War Museum is a top-notch museum with quality displays filled with unique and rare items. We've visited a hand-full of Civil War museums but we saw things here that we have never seen before. They have a nice large gift shop and clean restrooms. After you finish touring the INSIDE you go OUTSIDE where you... More

We return to this museum every time we travel to Louisville. My two favorite places are the Frazier Museum and this Museum. This was my third visit to this Museum and I will return in the fall.

You can tell this museum was put together by people who really care about detail. Everything was well displayed and the stories were long and very detailed. I found it difficult, though, to stop and read every single write-up. I wished that it was that you could either press a button and hear narration or use headphones that would tell... More

Visited by my husband & I. I am not a big History Buff, but I will say I was very impressed with the collections and all the info. Worthy a visit if you have a day to spend in Bardstown. There is also a historical village to tour on the grounds.

Lots of info but most cases had a uniform coat, a sword, a gun and some mementos. Was very hard for my 5 and 8 year old to enjoy it. Some displays were peeling and it would have been nice to have an audio tour that engaged the little ones and brought the stories of the soldiers to life. Could... More

We were in the area to visit Bourbon Distilleries, but being history buffs, we stopped in to see what was there and were blown away at the diversity and quality of this Museum. Great visit before we took in the Perryville, KY Battlefield on our way south to visit Tennessee and the Shiloh Battlefield.

A very large collection of memorabilia and historical stories, paintings, uniforms, weapons and so much more. Very well presented. A fully comprehensive timeline. We thoroughly enjoyed reading each and every story about the individuals and the families involved in the war. As an avid civil war buff, I would have to say this is one of the best museums I...
