I easily found the Dugout on my way to Coronado Heights. I looked it up on imagery and read a little on the location. As I drove past the sad looking parking lot, I expected it was for this attraction. I went on a somewhat...More

It took FOREVER to find. The directions on website & reviews say south on 12th from Hwy 4....LIES! It is north of Hwy 4 3/4 mile on east side of road. Dugout approximately 200 ft from road. It's is a neat part of history. It...More

This was terrible. no signs directing you toward it. No signs saying turn into the parking lot. Everything was overgrown so parking lot hard to see. Had to look up other reviewers' instructions on how to get to it. The hole was full of water.

This small, simple pit that served as home for a young Swedish couple in the mid-1800's is well worth taking the time to locate. The visitors center guide to Lindsborg gives excellent directions to help anyone who is interested in finding it because it is...More

Can you believe that the early settlers made this small dugout a home for the entire family during the harsh Kansas winters? There is a small parking lot with a short trail back to the field where this dugout is located. A small stream flows...More

This site has a neat history, but it seems that there is no upkeep besides mowing the grounds. Great place to stop and it is so neat to think about the way this family lived.

No real care taken to preserver this old structure. Its old stone foundation blocks and filled with what blows in. Kids go there to drink on the weekends.

Researched the history and found it very interesting. Hard to believe that the family spent two winters in the dugout. It was difficult to find even with a map. We drove past it the first time around. Should be marked with an historical marker.

Finding it requires effort. The site is not marked. Take Highway K-4 west out of Lindsborg, at 12th Avenue turn north. About ¾ mile on the east side of the road is an “opening.” From this opening you access a grassy parking area that would...More

This is just outside of Lindsborg, but you won't find it if you don't have directions. There is a "map" (sort of) in the visitors guide you can get in town but it is still one of those places you could drive past a million...More
