Lawrence is a quaint college town dating back to the 1860s. A park greets you on both ends of the downtown. This is an example of times past with a courthouse anchoring one end of Massachusetts street and the Kaw River bridge and City Hall the other. The street is lined with trees and flowers. Restaurants, sweet shops, KU-dominated apparel... More

Be sure to visit the Toy Shop, Acme T-shirt, Sarah's Fabrics, Yarn Barn, Made, Brits, Au Marche, and all of the other truly unique downtown stores! Our favorite restaurants from our last visit were Ingredient, Mad Greek, Wheatfields, and The Burger Stand.

The street has its charm with many places to stop by and enjoy them. Start from 6th street. Visit a unique candle store where displayed candles are each a piece of art. La Prima Taza will serve you different types of great coffees. Try my favorite one, a single shot cappuccino with an unsweetened almond milk! Visit the Liberty Hall... More

Let me just say, there were anonymous suburbs in my past, places I called home that were utterly devoid of personality. And then I came to Lawrence, KS, and met Mass. Street. It is always an adventure, locals are friendly, shops and bars and street musicians, twinkly lights and street parties are the best. It's the place we go to... More

We spent the afternoon strolling up and down the avenue. The sidwalks were not overly crowded and the spirit of the area was super friendly. Of course, we loved the abundance of Jayhawk gear in the sports shops. There are several eateries and a variety of stores. Parking was easy if you looked for spots 2-3 blocks away. Looking forward... The tree lined streets with sparkling lights, small business shops, good eats and libations, as well as the richness of the historical landmarks were amazing to experience.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this little town!!! Everyone is so welcoming, friendly and polite. I took my son down for a campus visit and the desk clerk at the hotel recommended that we check out Massachusetts street. By far one of the best college town areas I've ever seen. Great restaurants & bars. Awesome shops. Amazing scenery. Talk a walk... More
