Tourist Attraction at Rose Blanche, NL, Canada. Granite lighthouse originally built in 1871 and restored in 1999. Situated on a well developed site with free parking, a takeout food kiosk, a well stocked crafts store and The Lightkeepers Inn B&B. The site is 45 kms from the ferry terminal in Port Aux Basques, NL at the end of Route 470, a very scenic drive along the southwest coast of NL.

A beautiful and completely unique lighthouse. It was built from local stone by local labor, and it was rebuilt by local stone with local labor. I traveled across Newfoundland and visited many lighthouses. This one is unique. A wonderful walk up to the lighthouse which...More

What makes this lighthouse so different is that it is made from the granite rock surrounding the lighthouse. There is a guide that will take you up as you have to walk a rocky path to the lighthouse. You can also go upstairs to see...More

The incredible accomplishment by a town of 600 people to restore this iconic building. Well worth the visit and don't forget to eat at the Grub Box!

We regret that your visit to the historic Lighthouse was not as enjoyable as it is for most visitors. The $6 admission fee is not just to walk the trails. It includes an interpretive tour of the lighthouse and adjacent Lightkeeper's living quarters by a...More

I don't think I would make a special trip across the island to visit Rose Blanche, but if you're in the area, try to plan a little extra time heading to or from the ferry to see the lighthouse. If you like NL history or...More

This lighthouse is well worth seeing, even if it's a little off the beaten path. The trail is not difficult and signs explain the history of ship wreaks and the brave people who saved lives. The views are gorgeous!
