We visited a Frank Lloyd Wright home in California that was huge, and this was a nice contrasting smaller home that still has all the trademark Wright architectural details. We arrived after tour hours, so only saw the outside of it, but will definitely take...More

Great folks at the tour site and a wonderful tour guide. Glad that we paid for the private tour which gave us time to wander through and revisit areas of the house that we liked. Marty was a terrific tour guide.

I have visited various FLW museums across the US. This was different as it was designed to be a plan that anyone could buy and contract. It was designed for a middle class family. It is smaller than most of his houses. The docent was...More

The Stockman house is a wonderful look at the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright...and well worth the time to tour. Our guide was Jay, and he was excellent--knowledgeable, interesting, and had some great stories about the house and its furnishings.

Never have seen quality items of prairie school items to buy before, even coloring book! Loved the video, but the tour through the FLW designed house was wonderful and educational for entire fsmily.

It is a long drive to Mason City from most places, e.g. Chicago, Minneapolis or even Des Moines. If you are an architecture fan, it's worth the trip. We went in the winter, but it seems like it is a place to visit in Spring/Summer....More

I am glad you enjoyed your visit to the Stockman House. Although Mr. Wright designed less than 2 dozen American System Built (ASB) houses (aka Prefab), this house was stick built by on-site framing. ASB houses were designed 1912-1917 and the Stockman House was built...More

We arranged a private tour for 4 of us. The volunteer guide (Marty, I think) was fabulous. She was very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the tour very much and would highly recommend it if you're ever in or passing through Mason City.
